The Best Trailers Of E3 2012

June 11, 2012 by Raj Agrawal 1 Comment

E3 2012 was a mixed bag. While it failed to provide a substantial number of new game announcements (which is always the case), it did give us plenty of awesome game trailers. Game developers are getting better at enhancing the cinematic aspect of their games, and it is evident from some of the trailers which have been showcased. So lets take a look at the best trailers on offer at this year’s E3, in no particular order.

Assassins Creed 3

This game already has me hyped, but the trailer took it to another level. Past AC games have concentrated on the battle versus the templars, but the third installment in the series adds liberation, freedom, independence, and other war related themes to the mix to make the scale even more epic. The scenes where our protagonist charges forward as his countrymen are retreating gives you that adrenaline rush, and when his war comrades get inspired by his acts, the feeling (similar to the one in Braveheart and 300) is chilling to the bone. Assassins Creed 2 was my favorite Assassins Creed game, and if AC3 turns out to be as good, i’ll be disappointed. I expect much more from it, and it looks like it might deliver.

Beyond: Two Souls

The Last of Us is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated games of year. The talented team at Naughty Dog studios plan to take the survival genre to the next level, and we can’t wait to have a go at it. But that wasn’t all Sony had to offer this year. Quantic Dreams, creators of the critically acclaimed Heavy Rain, give us Beyond: Two Souls, another epic story which might set the adventure genre on fire. With facial animations that even put L.A. Noire to shame, this game has blown everyone away at E3, and will definitely compete with The Last of Us for the title of the most anticipated game of the year.

Watch Dogs

This game was revealed as a shock surprise at this years E3, and already has everyone’s hype meter going bonkers. Think of one computer that can control an entire city, and one man that has the power to control this computer. Sounds like an awesome disaster in the making, and we cannot wait to play as the man who can control it all. With graphics to rival the best out there, Ubisoft seem to have another winner on their hand.

Far Cry 3

Insanity. Many whack movies try to personify it. Many of those movies, like Ichi the killer, have personified it successfully. But i haven’t come across a single game that has managed to successfully integrate it into its story, the only notable exception being, well, nothing! As such, Far Cry 3 looks like it might change everything. Instead of focusing solely on gunplay, this time around Ubisoft is trying to up the ante and really deliver madness served on a Dvd. And if the game is as good as the trailer, then Vaas might be edged in our memories forever as the first truly insane videogame villian.

Tomb Raider

We thought Lara Croft was done for. A perfect example of overusing a brand, the tomb raider games were really beginning to suck. Enter Crystal Dynamics, and we have at least two tomb raider games in recent times that we can happily tag as being actually good. Now they’re coming up with another game, and this time, it’s where it all began. The new Tomb Raider already has everybody in awe, and the new E3 trailer, named crossroads, takes my anticipation to almost strenuous levels. Whether it will deliver or not is a thing for the future. But one thing is for sure, it is a treat for the eyes.

Diablo 3 : How To Defeat Siegebreaker And Rakanoth

June 2, 2012 by Raj Agrawal Leave a Comment

Diablo 3 is NOT the easiest of games. For the experienced veteran it might be sort of a breeze, but for the average gamer, the latter levels can be frustrating. Interestingly enough, the major end-of-act bosses of Diablo 3 are manageable compared to some of the mini bosses you encounter in between the acts. I’ve played Diablo 1 and 2 and am accustomed to the increased difficulty in the latter half of the game. The only time I was at the edge of frustration was while facing Siegebreaker, and then Rakanoth. Hence, i’m sharing a mini walk-through on how to beat both of them.

Siegebreaker

siege

This horrendous beast is a pain in the a** to beat. Mainly because there is no specific pattern as to how you can beat it. The simplest way to kill this beast is to wait for it to use one of its ground stomping area of effect attacks. Then get right behind it and slash away. Also be sure to never be in front of it, as it will occasionally rush at you which deals tremendous damage. Also, use the pillars to your advantage. Try and stay on the other side of the pillars as much as possible. Siegebreaker will eventually destroy all of them, but you can reduce his life to half in that much time, and then launch an all out attack. The fight is relatively easy in normal mode, but gets very difficult with increasing difficulty, as the bosses have their healths upgraded exponentially.

Rakanoth

rakanoth

This boss gave me huge headaches. The difficulty is finding out the right strategy. Once you have that sorted, it’s very easy to beat him. He’s one of Diablo’s champions, and rightly deserves the honor. He carries two huge blades, which are extremely sharp and deal huge amounts of damage. To make things worse, he has a huge array of attacks and also spawns minions, which aren’t easy to kill. To top all of this, he has a teleportation attack, using which he’ll teleport to where you are and slash at you with both of his swords. And accuracy is not a factor; he’ll always hit you, and eat away almost 90% of your health in one hit. And he always does this after spawning his minions, leaving them to deal the final blow. So you can understand my frustration, when after dying for 30-40 times, that I wanted to break my computer.

Defeat Siegebreaker And Rakanoth

Thankfully I was able to figure a way out, which turns out to be pretty easy. This requires constant use of potions, and a very effective armor based power. As soon as the battle begins, get away from him. He’ll slash you, before which you should use the armor based power. The power should absorb his attack. Then hit him once or twice, and go to the other side of the map. As long as you’re not near him, he will not spawn his minions, which makes the fight very easy. It also makes it tedious, but its the simplest way to beat him. Make sure to keep potions at hand so that if he slashes you without you using your armor power, you can use the potions and go back to full health.

Barring these two bosses, none of the enemies proved to be very difficult. Though I still have the higher difficulty levels to try out, which people say are very tedious and can really test your patience. But a demon souls and dark souls player understands what they mean, and is rightfully happy about it. And for any of you who are still on the edge about buying Diablo 3, give it a try. It’s worth every penny!

LG India Kicks In With It’s New ‘Cinema 3D Smart TV’ Line-ups

June 2, 2012 by Raj Agrawal Leave a Comment

Do not mistake LG’s Cinema 3D Smart TV as among the “ordinary” 3D TV sets out there. With the target to yield ₹ 1000 crores worth of business in India merely from 3D TVs, LG’s new product range for the Indian market conscientiously ‘delivers quality‘. As LG claims, all models within the Cinema 3D Smart TV category have been built with the world’s slimmest bezel, thus summing the overall thickness of Cinema 3D Smart TVs not more than 1 mm. The Cinema 3D Smart TV range is now available from 32 inches to 72 inches within ₹ 55,000 to ₹ 7,00,000 price range.
